Student Leadership

Leadership Opportunities

Leadership is a key element of our vision for the school and our students. Our student leadership structure is designed to provide students with important and empowering opportunities within the school; to take on positions of responsibility and rise to the challenge as they shape decision making and contribute to theirs and their peers' experience.

Students are inspired to develop and practise a range of key skills, including mentoring, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, presenting, team work, leadership and many more through their roles; putting them in good stead for their future and building firm foundations for success.

Sixth Form School Captains

Selected by Senior Leaders and Year Group Leaders in Sixth Form. Roles include:

Student voice leaders at Year Council and School Council meetings
Reporting to SLT following these meetings
Supervising Parents and Open evenings
Representing the school at public events
Conducting tours for prospective families and new staff
Taking part in the interview process of prospective Staff
Being role models for peers
Monitoring Homework Club
Organising and monitoring School Captains in their tutor group roles

School Captains (Four students from each Year 11 form)

Selected by Year 11 Form Tutors. Roles include:

Mentoring tutor groups
Student voice at Year Council and School Council meetings
Supervising Parents and Open evenings
Representing the school at public events
Conducting tours for prospective families and new staff
Taking part in the interview process of prospective Staff
Being role models for peers
Supporting MS Homework Club

Form Captains (Two students from each Year 7-10 form)

Selected by tutor group and form tutor. Roles include:

Student voice at Year Council and Student Council meetings
Organising on behalf of form tutor (including form notices, noticeboard, school photos, collating of documents, charity work, Sports Day etc)
Leading in production of form led assemblies and presentations
