Our Ethos
At Mayfield the Mathematics faculty aim to inspire, develop and motivate students to take an active part in their Maths lessons. Students are given time to learn key skills and develop deep conceptual understanding of Mathematics.
It is important that our students understand the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind mathematics. Correct mathematical language is a vital part of the learning process during Maths lessons.
Problem Solving plays an important part in our teaching at Mayfield. Our students are able to apply the knowledge they have secured in the lesson and apply it to real-life situations.
Miss F. Khanom
We are currently in the process of finalising our updated knowledge maps, knowledge organisers for students, and assessment plans. These documents will be placed here once fully completed in the next few weeks.

Teacher-Student Relationship
Student participation has played an important role in our most recent success. Our teachers create a calm environment which allow our students to explore, question and discover.
Our Maths club on Wednesdays is always over-subscribed and full of students from all year groups.
Home Learning
Home learning is given to Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 students on a weekly basis. We use a number of different formats such as traditional practise questions, online activities with MathsWatch, Sparx, and quizzes on Show my Homework.
Regular contact is made with parents and we encourage them to play an active role with the students' home learning.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Maths Club runs every Wednesday after school in room 1.07. Students of all Year Groups can get help from our maths teachers.
A Level students have the opportunity to work in room 1.21 on a Thursday after school.
