16th JulMayfield MUN Delegation 2018
Last week 10 of Mayfield's students attended a debate at Seven Kings School’s Model UN Conference.
A special mention must go to these students for their conduct, efforts and passion at the event. We can all be proud of the way that they represented Mayfield. Better still, this year two of our students were given awards for their performance:
Shaniah was awarded ‘Best Delegate’ in her committee, and, as she represented the USA, dealt well with the pressures of being the most significant country in her committee.
Jaskiran was given the ‘Honourable Mention’ award. Even though this is sort of, second place, Jaskiran was in a committee which consisted entirely of Year 13 students. Thus, we can be extremely proud of her efforts.
Considering that most students participating (25 in each committee) were from Seven Kings School, winning these awards is no small achievement, and shows how well prepared the Mayfield students were, and the composure of their efforts during the conference.
All participating students represented our school brilliantly!
4th JulSports Day 2018
Friday 29th June 2018 was Mayfield School's annual Sports Day.
It was a fantastic day filled with competitive personas, great music, and lots of peer support.
Mr Porter and the Mayfield Steel Pan band played excellent Caribbean inspired music throughout; very appropriate to the weather conditions and celebratory atmosphere.
The day was made up of three stages. The first two being Track Events for Years 8 and 10, and then Years 9 and 11. The final stage was the Field Events, in which a number of students from all years competed.
The results were outstanding with many students achieving better than they thought they could.
The overall winners were 8M4, 9M2, 10M3, and 11M1; receiving a grand total of 122, 129, 127, and 130 points, respectively.
Mayfield School would like to congratulate everyone for their great efforts this year, as well as the extrememely high level of support showed to fellow peers.
