22nd MarCATTS (Cancer Awareness for Teens and Twenties)On the morning of Thursday 22nd March 2023, Mayfield had the pleasure of hosting Natasha from CATTS (Cancer Awareness for Teens and Twenties), which is a charity focused on providing important guidance for teens and young adults on how to properly check oneself for signs/symptoms that may indicate breast, testicle, or skin cancer.
22nd MarScience Trip to KingswoodOn Friday 17th March 2023, 30 Year 11 students were taken on a residential trip to Kingswood for two days. Science sessions were ran for the students, and in between the sessions students had outdoor activities such as archery, mini-Olympics, climbing and the zipline.
17th MarScience Week (incl. Bake-Off)March 13th marked the start of the 2023 Science Week, and Mayfield had lots going on for this special event! On Tuesday 14th March, a Science Fair was held. Students took part in many activities and had such a great time! Friday 17th saw the results from our Mayfield Bake-off, in which students were tasked to bake a cake adhering to a Science theme; the results are amazing! "Amazing creativity for the British science week from our KS3 students - our future scientists!"
17th MarSteel Pans - Redbridge Choral Festival On Monday 13th March 2023, students from Mayfield performed in their Steel Pans group at the Redbridge School's Choral Festival. They performed in front of a large audience at the Royal Albert Hall and did Mayfield very proud!
14th MarYear 7 Netball SuccessThe Year 7 netball team played another league game against Chadwell Heath Academy on Monday 13th March. The game got off to a good start for Mayfield and we were up 1 nil at the end of the first quarter. As the game continued, some excellent shooting was made by Player of the Match Saharah H which secured Mayfield with a 3-0 lead at the end of the second quarter. Coaches’ Player Naiisha G done well in defence but unfortunately Chadwell managed to score two goals in the last quarter. Mayfield continued to support each other on the court and secured a win of 3-2. Both teams played well, especially in the very windy conditions. Well done girls and keep up the great work! 10th MarMulti Culture Day Students can wear non uniform on this day however no caps and if they choose to wear hoodies then the hood cannot be covering their head when student are anywhere on site. We hope students are willing to get involved with celebrating all things culture and diversity. Friday 17th March is also St. Patricks Day and Comic Relief. Year 13 will arrange for cultural music to be played cafe best and the common room at break and lunch and we will also have an area for students to have their photos taken.
9th MarYear 8 Netball SuccessThe Year 8 Netball team played a league game against Isaac Newton Academy on Wednesday 8th March 2023. Mayfield dominated the first quarter but Isaac Newton soon caught up with a draw at the end of the second quarter. As the game continued Mayfield continued to play well and prevented Isaac Newton from scoring. Excellent defending was seen by Coach’s player Hamidah J. and Player of the Match Zara C. Mayfield managed to secure a win of 10-8. Well done girls and keep up the excellent work!
