Library Grand Opening

The Mayfield School Library’s grand opening event was a smashing success! It helped me to meet many people who enjoy reading as much as I do, including the teachers, the governors and even some students. I am so grateful to have been a part of it, as it was a wonderful opportunity before going off to Sixth Form. Ms Greenwood, a former Headteacher, helped with a very generous contribution to the library books, which will be helpful to everyone. I and all the other students at Mayfield School will enjoy the amazing journeys books take us on, thanks to her. Everything was beautiful: the decorations, the “Thank you” cards to Ms Greenwood, the poem created and performed by students, and the food. I would just like to thank the library team, Mrs Scott, Mr Black and Miss Ferreira for putting together such a beautiful venue, Ms Greenwood for all the wonderful new books and the student librarians for helping set up this magical occasion.

The event began with the cutting of the red ribbon by Ms Greenwood, officially announcing the newly opened library. It was a truly special occasion when Ms Greenwood returned to Mayfield School to visit our newly-built library. Everyone was excited to welcome her back and show her around the impressive facility. As she walked through the doors, she was greeted with smiles and warm hugs from her former colleagues and friends. It was wonderful to see her reconnect with the school and be reminded of the impact she had made during her time as Assistant Headteacher.
It was heart-warming to see her interact with her old colleagues and friends who were delighted to see her again. Ms Greenwood's visit was made even more special, as she had generously donated £1,500 towards getting books that the students wished for. The students then performed a beautiful poem about the library which really helped to establish the ceremony and make it even more memorable. Everyone was excited to be a part of this special occasion, and as a token of appreciation Ms Greenwood was given a bouquet of pretty pink flowers, a fitting gesture to honour her dedication and generosity.
Delicious food was also provided for everyone to enjoy. It was a lovely experience for everyone involved, and we will always cherish the memories of this special day. It was heart-warming to see everyone come together to celebrate this momentous occasion.

The event was well organised and many great teachers attended it. Ms Greenwood came in honour of the newly extended Library and seeing the governors was such a pleasant surprise! The occasion had a nice atmosphere, as the students were giving their poems and were expressing their thank you to Ms Greenwood for making their wish list come true.
