Posted on: 04/06/2019Over the half term, the Compass Mentoring students attended a 2 day workshop:
The Generation Global Commitment is a new global education campaign led by the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, working with other organisations like the United Nations. The campaign aims to get world leaders to commit to taking action to deliver quality education systems that promote tolerance and global citizenship, and break down barriers between different groups of people.
The two-day workshop involved:
- A tour of the Houses of Parliament with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
- Listening to a panel discussion with women who have experience in advocacy, including MP Tulip Siddiq.
- A session with Restless Development, an international charity that works to amplify the voices of young people around the world. They will support you to develop your own campaign and give you practical tips about how to go about setting up a campaign.
- A session with Resonance Voice Training, an organisation that supports people in the art of public speaking. They will give you practical tips to build your communication skills and assertiveness.
