The Year 8 School Games Sportshall Athletics qualification event was hosted at Mayfield School on Tuesday 30^th January 2018. Mayfield’s involvement was two-fold, firstly as the host and organisers, but also as a team of competitors in both the girls and boys events.

Although neither of the Mayfield teams came first and so will not represent the borough in the next stage of this London School Games contest, enthusiasm was high and improvement was evident from last year’s efforts.

The girls finished in overall ninth position in the borough, whilst the boys finished in overall fourth place, which was a fantastic team effort made even better by the team win in the vertical jump event.

Visiting schools commented, as they did last year, on the excellent sporting facilities that we have at Mayfield as well as the friendly and efficient sports leaders who greeted the visiting schools as well as judged and scored the athletics events.

The sports leaders were excellent ambassadors for Mayfield School and I thank them for their professional attitude, help, and efficiency which allowed the event to run so smoothly.
