Pupil Librarians and Library Ambassadors
Posted on: 18/10/2024Meet our Pupil Librarians and Library Ambassadors
As part of our commitment to nurturing a strong reading culture around Mayfield school, our Library is delighted to introduce our dedicated team of Pupil Librarians and Library Ambassadors for the academic year 2024/2025!
Volunteering in the library enables students to promote the vision and goals of the Library in line with the core values and ethos of the school, and help inspire reading for pleasure. It is a vehicle for student voice within the school, and develops knowledge, literacy, creativity, independence, and individual / social skills in a real life context.
The Library Ambassadors and Pupil Librarians play a pivotal role in generating enthusiasm for the library and all its events, promoting a love of reading across all year groups. The impact of becoming a library ambassador extends beyond the immediate responsibilities of the role. Students who take on this position benefit from a sense of pride, passion, accomplishment and belonging in the library.
Thank you, all, for your interest in making the library a safer and happier place, and for positively influencing other students.
Miss Ferreira, Mrs Scott, Mr Black
Libraries are a vital resource because they are the cornerstone of reading. And we all know how important reading is. You can learn so much from books. They can take you places you've never been, put you in situations you never considered, help you learn lessons and find inspiration. Because of my love for books and passion for helping people. I enjoy connecting patrons with resources and information, and I find it rewarding to support the library's mission of fostering lifelong learning and community engagement. Being a librarian has so much to offer in a sense that I am able to share my librarian skills, be it at problem solving, researching, retrieving, or information literacy, to the patrons. After all, that's what I'm here for; to serve and fulfil the community's needs. Libraries play a vital role in promoting literacy and a love for reading. They offer programs and resources for children, adults, and families to improve literacy skills and encourage lifelong learning.

I am really keen in becoming a library ambassador because it aligns with my values of kindness and passion. It is a wonderful opportunity for me to highlight our amazing library to fellow students and connect with them. Plus, it will boost my confidence and enhance my speaking skills along the way, since life is all about learning new things.
Isha B., 12M2
I aspire to be a library ambassador so I can promote our school library and assist my fellow students in discovering the books they’re looking for. This role would also help me expand my own knowledge. Plus, the library is a peaceful space where people can relax and connect with their own thoughts.

As an avid reader who spends a lot of time in the library, I’m passionate about advocating for the importance of libraries and the positive impact they have on readers. I believe my enthusiasm and dedication would make me a great fit for this position.

The reason I want to become a member of the library is because I enjoy helping people and I want to make sure that I create an enjoyable experience for everyone who visits the library. I can be a creative person when it comes to decorating and coming up with new ideas because I am an artistic person. And overall, I think being an ambassador is a chance to make a positive impact.
Karolina V., 12M8
The reason I want to become a library ambassador is because I want to help out and support people who struggle with reading and also improve my reading skills as well. I want to help promote the library and encourage people to participate in reading and get them to visit the library more often. I would also ensure that the library is kept organised for other people to use.
Santia S., 12M7
Why have I applied to be a library ambassador at Mayfield school library? To make the library a safe and loveable environment, to gain knowledge of books, e.g. genre, authors. Furthermore, I am keen in promoting the library: when I joined this school, the library used to be very small, and the books were limited too; however, now there’s so many resources, and I would like to advertise it amongst my peers.
Manasi S., 12M2

I consider to be a reliable and hard-working person, willing to do my best in everything I do. I like discovering new hobbies and I focus on achieving my goals.
Robert M., 12M7
I want to be a part of the library ambassador team as I can be of good help when it comes to drawing, decorating and creating things for events, helping younger students who may be struggling with their reading abilities.
Kamia R., 12M7
I believe that I would be the perfect fit to take the role of a library ambassador. This is because I am aware that the library is an amazing resource that the school has graciously provided us with, but not enough students use it effectively. I would love to guide all pupils no matter what year group they belong to, truly to get the best use out of the Mayfield library.
Amina K., 12M4
I am writing to express my enthusiasm in becoming a Library Ambassador. Reading has always been a significant part of my life, and I am eager to share my passion with others in our community.
As a Library Ambassador, I would focus on creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels encouraged to discover new books and share their thoughts. I would love to help organise events, such as book discussions, reading challenges, and storytelling sessions, that engage our community and promote a love for reading. My goal is to inspire others to see the library as a space for exploration, connection, and a much-needed escape, just as it has been for me.
Over the past year, I have faced a number of challenges that have tested my resilience and strength. From personal struggles to the broader uncertainties in the world, there were moments when it felt overwhelming. During these tough times, I found solace and comfort in books and films.
This journey through literature and film not only helped me cope but also deepened my appreciation for storytelling as a powerful tool for healing and connection. It’s this transformative experience that drives my desire to be a Library Ambassador. I want to help others discover the same refuge in books and films that I found, creating a space where everyone can explore their own escapes and connect through shared stories.
I am excited with the opportunity to contribute to our library community and help others experience the joy of literature.
